Mixing traditional shanties and ballads with lively instrumentals and contemporary songs of the sea, friends Alan Eaton, Peter Hale, Dave Hallowell, and Mike Jeanneau perform together as Mudhook.
After meeting at the traditional music sessions held around the New Hampshire Seacoast, these friends realized that their strong voices and musicianship would combine to create a fun, familiar, and distinctive sound. Each member of Mudhook is a multi-instrumentalist, so their arrangements can feature any combination of bouzouki, fiddle, guitar, banjo, and tin whistle – all while singing up a mighty storm.
Mudhook has performed for the past four years at the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival, and the group’s members have sung onboard of several tall ships, including Blue Nose II, Pride of Baltimore II and Roseway.
