Michel Jeanneau
Multi-instrumantalist Mike is one of the four “hooks” of Mudhook. Born in the port city of Callao (Kah-yah-oh, not cal-eye-oh, please), Peru, to a navy family. Music and sailing being his favorite hobbies from a very early age. Mike started attending the Press Room sessions around 2001 (where he first met Dave Hallowell, and later Peter and Alan), and is now a regular at various traditional music sessions of the Irish, British and Maritime genres around Northern New England. Mike currently lives in the quasi-port city of Dover, New Hampshire.
His contributions to the band, apart from his distinctive playing style are songs of maritime themes, and more recently is experimenting with forebitters and sea-chanties-turned-into-songs, like Sally Brown, which he learned from a 1980 Planxty video of the band covering and old Sweeney’s Men song.
Mike is also a member of the Traditional Irish Band Boghat (www.boghat.com).
